I got laid off from a job I loved. And it broke something open in me.
After years leading culture, equity, and social impact work at major organizations, I found myself without the title, the meetings, the structure.
Just me and a question I’d been avoiding: What am I really here to do?
This wasn’t my first fall. I survived cancer as a young man. I’ve overcome trouble I don’t always talk about. I’ve carried the pressure to prove myself for as long as I can remember.
But this time, instead of rushing to get back up, I took inventory. I looked at the wins, the setbacks, and the moments of reinvention. And I realized — every fall had been preparing me for something.
That’s why I created The Art of Transformation. In this first episode, I share my story — how losing a role led me to build STACK SHIFT, a model for moving from stuck to intentional through discipline, consistency, and small daily actions. And how it led to the Transformation Circle, a community where people grow through honesty and real connection.
A low point isn’t always the end. Sometimes, it’s the very beginning of the next version of your life.
There’s always a path forward.
Have you ever had a fall that led you somewhere unexpected?
You’ve been doing the work. Reading the books. Listening to the podcasts. Journaling at 5 AM. And you’re making progress—but it’s slow, lonely, and sometimes you wonder if you’re even moving in the right direction. Here’s what you’re missing: other people on the same path. Transformation isn’t a solo sport. The breakthroughs happen faster, go deeper, and actually stick when you’re surrounded by people who get it—who are asking the same hard questions, fighting the same inner battles, and committed to becoming more. > Learn More
